July 2026 — The vinyl market is about to welcome a new player with a different approach.
Frequency Junction launches as an independent, non-profit label with a clear mission: helping rock bands release their albums on vinyl in a viable and sustainable way.
The label begins operations by selecting four bands to validate its business model. The concept is simple and straightforward: work with bands that already have completed albums, finalized masters, and finished artwork.
Frequency Junction does not handle music production itself, but instead focuses on vinyl pressing, release structure, and international distribution.
The first bands joining the project are Twilight Aura, Night Stinger, Phantom Star, and Luna’s Tangram, representing prog metal, hard rock, traditional heavy metal, and AOR respectively.
Their LPs are scheduled for release in July and August, officially marking the beginning of the label’s operations.
“Frequency Junction exists to take great albums out of the drawer and finally put them on vinyl in a simple, honest, and viable way for independent bands. We want to collaborate directly with artists while also serving as an additional channel to expand the reach of their projects. Our idea is to maintain a close and sustainable operation, limiting releases to only two or three albums per quarter so that every project receives full attention,” says Fernando Jorge, founder and CEO of Frequency Junction Records.
The motivation behind the initiative is deeply personal.
"Rock music has always played a major role in my life, and Frequency Junction was created as a way to give something back to the music community."
Many bands end up shelving excellent albums due to the high costs associated with vinyl manufacturing, and the label aims to solve exactly that problem by leveraging direct access to pressing plants and distribution channels in the United States. Frequency Junction’s model is built around transparency, simplicity, and mutual commitment.
The strategy focuses on limited initial pressings, avoiding excessive inventory while making releases financially viable for independent artists.
“Part of each pressing is allocated directly to the artists at manufacturing cost, while another portion is distributed and resold in the United States and Europe through platforms such as Discogs, Bandcamp, and other specialized channels. Frequency Junction assumes the financial risk entirely, while distribution remains lean and strategic through selected retail partners,” Fernando Jorge explains.
Any eventual profits may either be returned directly to the bands or reinvested into financing future projects. Artists also retain 100% ownership of their music, with no abusive contracts or long-term rights participation from the label.
At a time when vinyl continues to regain global relevance — surpassing CDs in several markets — the proposal seeks to make physical releases accessible once again for independent bands.
With relatively low investment, artists can transform their work into LPs pressed in the United States, with access to international distribution and placement in selected stores across the globe.
By starting with only four bands, Frequency Junction intends to carefully validate its operational model, provide full attention to each release, and establish a solid foundation for future expansion.
